BEFORE WE BEGIN


Giving yourself intentional time to prepare will set you up for success, and a smooth design week. You'll find once we begin, things move quickly.

Before we begin, you'll get preparation guidance from us to ensure the process is a breeze. Your onboarding will include discovery homework, website copy prompts, and guidance on where and what to compile in terms of assets, images, and inspiration.

PHASE ONE

To kick off your project, we'll set up a virtual call to go over all your content and review your assets. In this call, we'll chat about creative direction, inspiration and any wish list items you have for your new site.

PHASE TWO

This is where you'll get to sit back, relax, and hold tight. Using your prep homework as a guiding light, the creative brainstorming begins along with building the initial website framework for design and flow.

PHASE THREE

This is where you'll have the opportunity to review, provide revisions and finesse. This phase we'll also set up your SEO and do pre-launch checks to ensure a smooth user experience

PHASE FOUR

It's time to celebrate and get you launched! At the end of your week, your site will be published and get you set up to navigate your new site with ease. You'll have post-launch support from us, along with resources for a successful launch and beyond.

  • Why should I work with Lume creative

    When you invest in our services, we ensure our process is completely streamlined and value-packed with the goal of building a brand and website that is 100% yours.   • How far in advance should I book?

    This comes down to YOU and how quickly you'll be able to gather and prepare your content. Things we'll need from you include:

    • brand assets (logos, colours, fonts)
    • headshots/brand images
    • website copy and content
    • domain (URL) login information

    For some, this could take 1 week, and for others 2-3 weeks. Try being realistic with your capacity and we can plan accordingly! 


    Once you've booked with us, we provide you with guidance and prep homework to get you started and make the process a bit smoother. 


    One last thing to keep in mind...

    Website in a Week is a popular option and as such might book out in advance. We recommend reaching out to start the process and secure your spot as soon as you can.

  • What's the difference between website in a week and custom website design?

    The beauty of Website in a Week is the quick turnaround time and the efficiency with which we get to work together. It relies heavily on your preparedness and providing everything we'll need to focus exclusively on your project in the week we work together.


    Our fully custom website designs include more in-depth strategy, competitor research, as well as one-of-a-kind design elements. They also tend to be a bit more complex in the features and requirements, which lead to the higher cost and 5+ week timeline associated. 


  • Can I get a E-Commerce website make in a week?

    Website in a Week is best suited for service providers, as e-commerce sites have more integrations and setup time. 


    This is where our Custom Website package may be better suited. At Lume Creative, we specialize in websites for service-based businesses. Feel free to fill out our inquiry form here so we can chat more and determine your unique goals and needs to see if we might be the right fit.

  • How much time do I need to set aside for this service?

    Once you've booked your Website in a Week, we'll get you set up with an onboarding guide, discovery homework, and a checklist of things to start collecting. 


    BEFORE WE BEGIN:

    To prepare, you'll need to set aside some time to write your website copy, gather brand images, and source your domain information (or purchase this if you don't already have it - we'll give you more details on this). For some, this can take a week and for others, it might take 2-3. This really comes down to your capacity.


    It's also helpful to compile any inspiration for design or websites you're drawn to, so we can really hone in on what you love most and create something amazing together.


    DURING YOUR WEBSITE WEEK:

    The Friday before your website week we'll jump on an hour call to kick off the project and answer any questions you might have.  


    Throughout your design week, you'll receive email check-ins from us a few times throughout the week to provide updates on progress, ask questions, and get your feedback and revisions. 

  • What do you need from me to get started?

    Website in a Week relies on communication and preparations to ensure we have a successful design week and launch. 


    Once your week is booked with us, you'll receive guidance from us including an onboarding guide, discovery homework, and a checklist of things to start collecting. This includes things like:

    • brand assets (logos, colours, fonts)
    • headshots/brand images
    • website copy and content
    • domain (URL) login information

    We also recommend gathering inspirational images to give us a sense of the look and feel you're going for. We love Pinterest and provide steps on how to create and add Lume to a collaborative board.

  • What if I don't have a logo or brand assets?

    Branding is essential to making your website unique to you. If you don't already have a logo or brand assets, don't worry! You have options:


    You can add one of our semi-custom brand kits to your service, which are pre-designed branding bundles where we swap out a few details to make it yours. With this option, we would prepare your brand kit the week prior to your website week so it's approved and ready to go.


    If you want to invest in a completely bespoke brand, our Custom Brand Design package offers everything you'll need for a strong brand foundation. This would add 2-3+ weeks to your project and can coincide with when you're working on your prep homework. 

  • Are there any other costs aside from the design?

    Apart from the design fee, it is customary to also have associated costs for hosting and domain. Here is a quick break-down:

    • Website build = the initial design fee to create your website
    • Host  = Where your website lives (billed yearly)
    • Domain = the URL or address that people type in to find your website (billed yearly, or every couple of years)
    • Website maintenance/updates  = as needed

    Lume Creative offers design, hosting, and maintenance services. The quote you receive for your Website in a Week service includes the initial design fee, along with the first year of hosting. Some of our clients opt for a paid add-on page or additional features which we can discuss and include in the quote. 


    Your hosting renewal will happen every year from the time we launched and will be invoiced directly from Lume Creative. Paying your hosting on time ensures your website remains active. 


    To launch your site, you'll need to choose a website URL and purchase your domain name. We recommend GoDaddy for its low costs and reliability. This will be billed by the chosen domain source on a monthly, yearly, or every few year basis depending on what you choose.


    From time to time, you'll need updates or changes made to the website. We're happy to quote this out on an as-needed basis depending on the project scope. Some of our clients feel comfortable making minor changes on their own.



  • What if I need more than 4 website pages?

    Before we begin, we can discuss how much content you're hoping to share on your site, and whether the additional pages would be more beneficial. We can then quote out based on any additional pages or requirements as needed, and determine if we are able to accomplish this within the one-week timeframe.


    For sites that require 6+ pages, our Custom Website Design service is likely a better fit.

  • Will I be able to edit my site once it's built?

    Absolutely! Once we pass on your site, you'll find the back end is super user-friendly to navigate, with simple drag-and-drop editing capabilities.


    We also provide you with personalized training videos where we'll walk page-by-page to show you how to make changes as needed.
